Private Lessons
Whether you are looking for weekly lessons or a consult lesson to prepare for festivals, exams and/or post-secondary auditions, all I ask is that a student has a clear goal and desire to learn. While most of my teaching has been in a university setting, first at Brock University, then Western University and ultimately Kwantlen Polytechnic University for 27 years, I have acquired a wide range of experience from beginner through advanced students.
Beginners can expect to have lessons that focus on learning music as a language – the alphabet, words, the sentences and above all the pronunciation of all things musical. Transfer students are welcome to take a consult lesson in which I will assess his/her technical and musical level and discuss a plan for learning. In the university setting, I was accustomed to taking students of varying abilities through a structured curriculum that was designed to learn repertoire efficiently and quickly each semester. I approach transfer students the same way. I address any deficiencies so that learning repertoire becomes less of an ordeal and more like reading a good book. Want to complete RCM exams? Want to enter music festivals? Want performing experience? I encourage all!
